Crohn's Disease
Genizon has completed a genome-wide association study of 382 trios from the Quebec Founder Population (QFP) in its Crohn's disease program. Genotyping was performed in collaboration with Perlegen Sciences using 248,000 SNPs, producing 284 million genotypes. This is one of the largest genetic surveys ever performed in a single common disease.
Genizon identified several strong novel disease gene signals associated with Crohn's disease and confirmed the association of NOD2 and the OCTN region with the disease. Further work in this program has resulted in the development of a GeneMap for Crohn's disease.
In August 2006, Genizon granted Genentech, Inc. an exclusive license to the Crohn's GeneMap of disease-associated genes
