Endometriosis

Genizon has completed a GWAS in its endometriosis program using samples from the Quebec Founder Population (QFP). A total of 511 cases and 511 controls were individually genotyped using Illumina’s HumanHap300 chip
(317,504 tag SNPs) augmented with 56,683 SNPs selected to reflect the linkage disequilibrium (LD) structure of the QFP. This approach has resulted in the identification of several genes and candidate regions associated with the disease. Many of the identified regions contain genes involved in biologically relevant pathways. The identified genes have been used to construct a GeneMap, consisting of networks of interacting disease genes and their biological pathways. Research into these and other regions is continuing.

In January 2007, Genizon licensed the disease-state diagnostic rights to its discovery program in endometriosis to Pfizer Inc.
