Genetic Analysis
Working together, Genizon’s geneticists, bioinformatics scientists and computer engineers have developed a proprietary automated genetic analysis system (GeneSys) to process genotyping results and discover genes and biomarkers. GeneSys consists of an integrated system of over 80 programs and scripts, governed by a customizable workflow and scheduling system. This fully automates and controls the entire genetic analysis process and optimizes data processing through parallel computing on up to 10,000 CPUs.
The GeneSys pipeline incorporates key proprietary algorithms and methods for:
- Genome-wide haplotype analyses and single SNP analyses,
- Assessment of statistical significance given the large number of false positives that may occur by chance
- Genome-wide identification of both gene-gene interactions and genes acting independently from other disease genes,
- Correction for population stratification based on genealogical as well as genetic data,
- In addition to these proprietary methods, Genizon routinely conducts additional analyses that increases the number of disease genes identified.
All major components of Genizon’s gene discovery systems are developed and tested according to software industry standards.
